The term ‘Content Analysis’ refers to two different concepts.  Generally, the world ‘content’ refers to the subject matter put forth by the teacher.  Content is also referring to the printed material from the text book.  Though the printed matter is same for two different classes.  Their content cannot be the same.  Content depends upon the objectives fixed for that particular standard.  The printed matter should be analyzed according to the needs and requirements of that particular standard.

According to I. K. Davis, “it is the analysis of a topic or content unit to be taught, its constituents or elements are arranged in a logical sequence.”

Meaningful written matter is content.  The analysis of content means the analysis of topic or content units to be taught into their constituents.  The analysis of content means the arrangement of the constituents of the content is massage, purpose, meaning etc.  Analysis means to separate units, to divide, relating to teaching; the meaning of content is ‘a matter which is to be taught to students.’

§  Aspects of content – Dr. Bloom has classified the constituents of content into three aspects -

1. Cognitive.

2. Emotive.

3. Physical.

These are three aspect of human development.  But, today, curriculum or syllabus stresses mainly cognitive aspect of content.  Other school subjects which develop physical aspect of content hence it creates various problems in the life of students.
